Luck O' the Irish

St. Patrick's Day is a day kids can really get into! Pinching is permitted, green drinks and food are all the rave and Leprechauns are cool creatures! Columbia will host several events to celebrate the day. Some events are just for kids or for the whole family.

The most popular annual event in the Midlands is St. Pat's Day in Five Points held on Saturday, March 15, 2003. A new addition to the festival this year is the 5K race (starting at 8:30 AM) and a 1-mile walk (starting at 8:35 AM). The Children's Carnival will include the Oprah for Kids with performances of "The Three Little Pigs" and "Goldilocks," as well as more family oriented entertainment and amusements. Adult admission is $7.00 and parking will be available in the Harden Street Food Lion parking lot for a $5.00 fee while spaces last.

Local parks and libraries are also providing St. Patrick's Day activities with crafts and costume fun:
Lucky Charms - March 17 at 3:30pm at North Main Branch Library, celebrate St. Patty's day with this fun craft. Create your own little lucky charm to wear home. For ages 8 - 12.
St. Patrick's Day Costume Contest - March 17 at 6:30pm at Eastover Park, 1031 Main St. Dress up for St. Pat's Day and be creative with your costume. There will be treats for all participants. The event is free and open to all ages. Register by March 10. Call 353-7137 for more information.
