12 Days of Holiday Fun in ColumbiaThe kids are out of school, Christmas is a week away. Make the most of this season's festivities with our fun list of holiday activities for your family! Here's a quick roundup of what's going on these next two weeks while the kids are out of school.Day 1: Dec 17 Breakfast with Santa at Riverbanks Zoo The early seating is sold out, but you might still be able to get tickets for brunch! Alice in Winterland at Columbia Marionette Theatre See Alice's adventure in Winterland, performed by marionettes! Laurel St, $4 per person. See the Polar Express for Free in the Park Bundle up and bring a thermos of hot chocolate and some warm blankets and enjoy this presentation of [i]the Polar Express[/i] in Hylton Park, Lexington. See A Christmas Angel This musical is being performed at the Village Theatre in Lexington. Day 2: Dec 18 See Columbia City Ballet's Nutcracker It's not really the holidays until you've enjoyed a performance of the Nutcracker! Day 3: Dec 19
Attend An Animal's Account at the Puppet Playhouse! Your kids will love this version of the Christmas story from the animal's point of view. Lexington. Send the kids to the (Ages 4 - 8) Need some extra time to get ready for the holidays? Sign the kids up for a Winter Workshop during winter break! Must preregister. Day 4: Dec 20 Enjoy Christmas Around the World at the downtown Public Library Games, stories, songs and a movie! For ages 3 and up.
See a Holiday Movie! Check out Harry Potter, the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Yours, Mine & Ours or Chicken Little! There are several great movies out for all ages. Day 5: Dec 21 Enjoy a Friday Night at the Plex Finish your shopping or just enjoy a little down time with your spouse while the kids have a ball (literally!) at Plex Indoor Sports. 6-9PM Last night for the Holiday Lights on the River at Saluda Shoals Park Don't miss it- last night to drive through the gorgeous light displays and enjoy activities at the park center. Merry Christmas Day 8: Dec 26 Enjoy a performance of Celebrate Winter at the Puppet Playhouse Get those overstimulated kids out of the house and let them work off a little energy in the playhouse side after watching the puppet show, Celebrate Winter. Day 9: Dec 27 Enjoy the Lights Before Christmas at Riverbanks Zoo This event is a must-see tradition for Columbia families. See it after the crowds are gone and enjoy the thousands of lights on display. Day 10: Dec 28 Take the Historic Homes Holiday Tour- Historic Columbia For ages 6 and up, take a trip back in time to the Columbia of the Civil War era. Resplendent in period decorations, enjoy the Hampton-Preston Mansion, Mann-Simons Cottage, and Robert Mills House. Day 11: Dec 29 Visit Edventure's Snowville Play in the snow, build igloos and "ice skate" at EdVenture's cool Snowville exhibit. Day 12: Dec 30
